SACRAMENTO – California State Association of Counties (CSAC) issues the following statement regarding the new framework for Counties related to sector reopening.
CSAC and California Counties are taking a close look at the Blueprint for a Safer Economy to understand the implications for each county, business sector, and the people we all serve. The Blueprint appears to provide a clear picture on which public health metrics to aim for and more concise information to help county leaders, businesses, and the public understand the status of COVID-19 transmission and the reopening process in their county.
Counties regret that we do not yet have the full clarity on the new tiers necessary for counties to effectively respond to the expected massive volume of inquiries from residents trying to decipher what local changes are possible and under what timeline and conditions. Counties bear the weight of responding to residents on the real world, county-by-county impacts that these new guidelines represent and battling COVID-19 at the local level. We are working feverishly to get and share answers with our communities as we have them. We thank Governor Newsom for his careful consideration in developing this new framework that counties are preparing to implement August 31 with the information we have available.
California State Association of Counties (CSAC) is the voice of California’s 58 counties at the state and federal level. # # #
