SACRAMENTO – California State Association of Counties (CSAC) Executive Director Matt Cate has announced that the Sutter County Board of Supervisors appointed Jean Jordan to serve as Sutter County Counsel at their regular Board meeting last night. Jordan has served as CSAC’s Director of Operations and Member Services since October of 2013.
“I am very excited by this new opportunity,” said Jordan. “I have enjoyed working at CSAC but this move allows me to get back to my first love—the law. The most important thing that my time at CSAC confirmed for me is that counties affect people’s lives on so many different levels, from public safety and law enforcement, to health and human services and public works. So while I am sad to be leaving CSAC, I am happy to remain in the county family and I am looking forward to working closely with the Board of Supervisors and the rest of the staff in Sutter County.”
“In the last 16 months Jean has played an integral role in reorganizing CSAC to enhance internal efficiency and make us more responsive to our members,” said CSAC Executive Director Matt Cate. “If we have to lose Jean, at least it’s to one of our county members and I know we’ll still have many opportunities to work with her in this new role. I want to thank her for her hard work and commitment to California’s 58 counties. We wish her all the best as Sutter County’s new County Counsel.”
Jordan has an extensive background in county government. Prior to coming to work at CSAC she served at Executive Director of Administrative Services for the California District Attorneys Association. She has also worked for Yolo County as both a Public Defender and an Deputy District Attorney, and she also worked as a Deputy District Attorney in the Family Protection Units for Santa Cruz and San Diego Counties.
Jordan will continue her work at CSAC through the end of February and begin her service with Sutter County on March 2.
