SACRAMENTO –The California State Association of Counties (CSAC) elected Stanislaus County Supervisor Vito Chiesa to serve as its President for the next year. He was officially sworn in November 20 at the CSAC Annual Meeting in Anaheim, Orange County. Supervisor Chiesa had previously served as the Association’s First Vice President.
“California’s 58 counties deal with issues that impact all of our daily lives, such as health care, public safety, water and transportation,” said Supervisor Chiesa. “CSAC’s role representing Counties in Sacramento is critical. With the State budget situation improving, hopefully California will be able to catch up on deferred payments to Counties sooner than expected. And the drought and other water issues will also be on our agenda for 2015. I am looking forward to a busy year as President of CSAC.”
Amador County Supervisor Richard Forster was elected to serve as First Vice President, and San Diego County Supervisor Dave Roberts will serve as Second Vice President. Contra Costa County Supervisor John Gioia, CSAC’s 2014 President, will move to Immediate Past President.
“Supervisor Chiesa has already been extremely helpful in the State Capitol as we work on ground water management, budget issues and criminal justice realignment,” said CSAC Executive Director Matt Cate. “His knowledge, experience and passion for helping people make him a real asset to Stanislaus County and I know he’ll extend that to all 58 California Counties as CSAC President.”
The California State Association of Counties is the voice of California’s 58 counties at the state and federal level.
